Didn’t win The Wave lottery? Don’t despair. Our South Coyote Buttes Tour offers you a chance to explore the southern side of this amazing area in the Grand Circle. Come and explore the epic Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and make lasting memories with one of our expert guides. This land of unceasing natural beauty offers you amazing photography and hiking opportunities with landscapes that are startlingly similar to The Wave but with a shorter hike. You’ll also be immersed in fascinating paleontological and archaeological histories as we look at dinosaur footprints and the occasional Native American artifact.

We’ll pick you up from any hotel or Airbnb in Kanab, Utah, or we can meet at the Kane County Visitors center in Kanab Utah.

Group size

Minimum 2, maximum 5 per tour guide. We can take groups of up to 10 people. There will be a $150.00 fee for the second vehicle and guide.

Hike distance

7-9 miles


Hike difficulty

Moderate – uneven rocks and small sections of sand. The hike typically takes between 2 and 5 hours, depending on your group’s pace, comfort, and safety. We exercise caution during the summer months. This hike requires around 1 gallon of water per person in the summer.

Permits

There is a $6.00 fee per person that can be paid online through recreation.gov, ahead of time or at the trailhead

• Due to this being a B.L.M. (Bureau of Land Management) permit area, the crowds are kept small and your experience is enhanced.

• When you choose one of our expert guides for your tour, you help to guarantee that these amazing histories are preserved and respected for future generations.

• We always have to keep an eye on the weather before any hike in a slot canyon due to potential flash flooding.
